The message here is that India is a very rich country with a lot of poor people, hence , there is very much need for Akshaya Patra.
Since 2003, the Government has been funding the programme. Akshaya Patra gets 60 % of the running cost paid from the Government.
There is hope in the future that there may not be a need for Akshaya Patra, but at the moment there is a wide gap where richer are getting richer , and the poor are getting poorer.
Akshaya Patra fed its Billionth meal in August 2012. The Respected Shankar Mahadevan wants to spread the message through his music. As mentioned in the video, he wants to Dub the Akshaya Patra song into different languages.
